Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Samma Karuna and our drop-in Yoga Class program in Koh Phangan:
What should I wear to a yoga class in Koh Phangan?
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows full range of movement. In our tropical climate, lightweight fabrics like cotton or moisture-wicking materials work best. For morning yoga Koh Phangan sessions, fitted or stretchy clothes are ideal for dynamic flows. For sunset yoga Thailand classes, you might want to bring a light layer as temperatures cool down in the evening. Yoga is practiced barefoot, so no special footwear is needed.
I'm a complete beginner—are your yoga classes suitable for me?
Absolutely! Our beginner yoga classes in Koh Phangan are designed to welcome complete newcomers. Our experienced, Yoga Alliance certified instructors provide clear guidance, demonstrate modifications for every pose, and create a supportive, non-competitive environment. We offer various styles and levels throughout the day, and you can always ask instructors before class which session would be best suited for your experience level.
What's the difference between morning yoga and sunset yoga classes?
Our morning yoga Koh Phangan sessions (8:30-10:30am) are typically more dynamic and energizing, featuring styles like Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga, or Power Yoga to awaken your body and prepare you for the day ahead. Our sunset yoga classes (4:30-6pm) are gentler and more therapeutic, incorporating Hatha, Yin, Restorative, or Yoga Nidra to help you unwind, release tension, and transition into the evening with calm and presence.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat to classes?
No, you don’t need to bring your own mat. Samma Karuna provides high-quality yoga mats, props (blocks, straps, bolsters), and all necessary equipment for our drop-in yoga classes in Koh Phangan. However, if you prefer using your personal mat for comfort or hygiene reasons, you’re absolutely welcome to bring it. We also have mat cleaning supplies available after each session.
